Recommended Specifications for Injection Molded Industrial Gears
In the AGMA system, the geometric parameters of the base circle of the gear are used as the basic control parameters. Indirect gear parameters such as diameter pitch and pressure angle are used as working data, which are used as reference benchmarks in traditional analysis. Gear roll inspection can be considered the best way to ensure consistent quality of gears in the injection moulding industry during mass production. It not only expresses the total total error (TCE) or one-tooth total error (TTE) of the gear, but also determines whether the actual center distance between the measured gear and the measuring gear is within the specified positive and negative tolerance zone. Statistical analysis of the rolling inspection results of a batch of sample gears can determine whether the overall shape and absolute dimensions of the gears are within the tolerance band. Rolling inspection is more like establishing a rolling inspection qualification verification for injection-molded gears, and it should be ensured that the injection-molded gears produced every day meet this verification. The development prospect of injection-molded gears is quite optimistic. Materials have continued to improve dramatically, injection molding machinery has become more sophisticated, and testing equipment has been able to measure these unique injection molded gears with high precision. In the future, injection-molded gears can be expected to replace metal gears in light-duty transmission applications. Manufacturers are continuing to find applications and areas where metal gears cannot be used, but plastic gears are useful. In order to enter these new potential application areas, every step must be correctly implemented, and every advantage of injection-molded gears must be exploited.
